Dubai's Top Cafes

Calling all the coffee aficionados of Dubai! This Thursday is International Coffee Day, and whether you favour the syphon, moka pot, French press, espresso or a traditional old school filter coffee, this city has a plethora of exciting cafés that serve an immaculate cup of joe to the caffeine lovers of Dubai.

So we thought we’d make some sense of the java jungle by listing some of our absolute favourite coffee spots in different areas of Dubai. Go try them out, and tag us in your cappuccino selfies to let us know what you think!

Common Grounds, Mall of Emirates

Another brainchild from the geniuses behind popular coffee spots Tom & Serg and The Sum of Us, Common Grounds has quickly gained an audience, not only amongst shoppers at the Mall of Emirates, but also with Dubai residents venturing into the mall just to enjoy that perfectly brewed cup of joe. As with its sister venues, the caffeine geek factor is sky high with options such as aeropress, chemex, cold drip and V60 – to name but a few – available to choose from. You can also indulge in healthy breakfast and lunch options throughout the day. To make a reservation, please call 050 478 1094.

Aubaine, Dubai Mall

Hitting up the world’s largest mall for a bit of shopping? Get some rest and refuel at the stylish Aubaine, a perfect blend of Parisian café and Provençal bistro. Located on the ground level near Bloomingdale’s, Aubaine serve a velvety smooth cappuccino along with buttery pastries made in-house in their very own boulangerie. You are guaranteed to get the pick-me-up that you need before returning to your shopping. For reservations please call 04 501 6970. Don’t miss CitiSpi’s Bumps & Beyond event at their sister venue in City Walk next week!

Eat Greek, JBR

Now that the weather is starting to cool down, we are spending as much time as possible down by The Beach in JBR, where one of our absolute fave spots to grab a seat and enjoy some people watching is Eat Greek. In addition to their delicious breakfast options with a Greek twist, Eat Greek serve proper Greek coffee along with traditionally homemade “Gluko Tou Koutaliou”, a Greek addition of happiness for your jitter juice. You can also try a cooling ‘cappuccino freddo’ or a ‘Greek frappé’ to keep cool in the sun. For bookings call 04 430 5249, and keep an eye out for CitiSpi’s Smart Social Ladies’ breakfast that take place here.

Fumë, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown

Quirky design, a laid-back atmosphere and delicious coffee! Fumë’s second branch set up shop during the summer on the affluent Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown, adding a splash of colour to the strip. The brand might be mostly known for their casual-style and affordable dinner offering, however, in recent months they have started serving breakfast at both branches, which of course is paired with top notch coffee. Order a large cup of latte and grab a seat upstairs where you can enjoy some people-watching all through the morning through their floor-to-ceiling glass walls facing the boulevard. To book, call 04 456 8784.

Tom & Serg, Al Quoz

The recently refurbished Tom & Serg in the industrial area of Al Quoz has long been a firm favourite amongst java worshippers in Dubai. The two coffee geeks behind this Aussie-inspired café have made a point of becoming absolute experts on all things caffeinated, trickling the knowledge from the very top down to every member of the team, much like a cold drip coffee stand. This is a great place to grab a cup of decent espresso but also to experiment with the likes of chemex, V60, cold brew and syphon coffee. To book, call 056 474 6812.
