Following in the footsteps of Saturday’s guest blog covering all the ladies’ nights on offer during Ramadan, it’s time for the annual roundup of where to spend your days during the holy month. Despite what some might think, there are plenty of options for those seeking a waterhole or a bite to eat in the middle of the day, and CitiSpi has got a list of some of our top picks for this summer.
There is less traffic on the roads so try somewhere different, and as you’ll see, we haven’t limited ourselves to just daytime venues, you can still indulge in a sort-of-brunch aka drunch, despite the time of the year.
Fresh as a cucumber on the market, Gourmet by Kcal has recently launched to the joy of all health food hipsters of Dubai. Although they currently only open for lunch and dinner, as of the first weekend of Ramadan they will also be serving a healthy breakfast that includes fresh smoothies from their juice bar and home-made gluten-free bread and pastries. For bookings, call 04 511 7139.
If you are a Media City mogul scratching your head in wonder of where to lunch this holy month, you can take a deep breath and relax. Everyone’s favourite Media City lunch spot, Café M, will still offer their utterly delicious salad bar lunch from Sunday to Thursday throughout Ramadan. Served from 12pm till 3pm, the buffet includes freshly prepared salads and light bites and also includes refreshing iced tea. The full buffet is AED 66 per person or AED 44 for the latecomers (2.30pm-3pm).
If you were worried that there would be no more brunches during Ramadan, you were wrong. Although at a different time of day, the Night Owls Brunch at The Med has everything you could wish for in a brunch – and then some! Tuck into succulent meats from the carving station, oven-baked pizzas and a seafood bar, all paired with signature cocktails and house drinks. If you have the stamina, stay on to enjoy some great tunes with free access to House of Africa. All this comes at the reasonable price tag of AED 395 and is available from 8pm – 11pm every Friday.
If you are looking for a family-friendly, relaxing spot close to the beach to enjoy breakfast or lunch with friends or family during Ramadan, The Talk at Mövenpick Hotel in JBR will be open daily, serving a breakfast buffet from 6.30am – 10am followed by a lunch buffet from 12.30pm – 3pm.
For those avid golfers out there who we know will defy the heat and head out for some early morning putting on the green, Monty’s will stay open during the day throughout Ramadan. They will be serving their complete a la carte menu as per usual, which includes classic breakfast option in the morning, such as pancakes, poached eggs and a full English, as well as their bar snacks and lunch menu.
A great escape this Ramadan would be to head down to RIVA beach club on the Palm for a bit of shade bathing and perhaps a dip in the pool. And best of all, RIVA Ristorante will be open from 7am, serving all of your favourites from their a la carte menu indoors throughout the day.
And guess what, right next door to RIVA you will find the home-grown café and hipster lunch spot Sophie’s, who will likewise be serving food, including their salad and mains selection, from 7am.
Life in and around Trade Centre won’t be dull either this holy month as Californian inspired bistro Delphine’s will keep serving lunch from noon every day. This could be the perfect setting for a business lunch or a catch up with the ladies who lunch!
Located inside the same prestigious hotel at the top of Sheikh Zayed Road, OKKU is mostly synonymous with nightlife and, in particular, unbeatable Sunday nights. However, this award winning pan Asian restaurants also offers a great lunch setting and would make a great spot to impress business partners or visitors over lunch. Make sure to try their wasabi prawns!
Moving further North, Boardwalk by the Dubai Creek has long been a favourite of ours, thanks to their deliciously filling Club Sandwiches, and will continue to serve food throughout the day this Ramadan. Sundays till Thursdays they will have a special offer of antipasti, salad bar and tartar station, including iced tea, for just AED 90 per person from 12-4pm. On weekends they will also open their doors for breakfast from 8am.
Remaining in that neck of the woods, Casa Tapas is just a floor up from Boardwalk and offers authentic Spanish tapas paired with great views of the Creek. Their regular menu will be available between 12-2pm for the hungry señores and señoritas in the area.
Staying in the same area, Lakeview inside the Clubhouse has recently re-launched following extensive refurbishments and improvements. It has since become very popular for its stunning views of the Downtown district from afar.
