What's On - UAE National Day celebrations

Celebrations have already begun across the UAE – with more than 200 events planned throughout the Emirates for the 45th National Day. 

This anniversary, which marks the occasion of the UAE’s nationalization in 1971, and subsequent union of the Emirates, is celebrated on December 2 each year.  And the city really does come alive with festivity!

So, grab your friends, your family, or head out solo and get ready to meet lots of interesting people, and find out more about this great city we call home – from cultural activities to art displays, live concerts to show-stopping fireworks all around Dubai.


Malls around Dubai

In anticipation of the anniversary, Thursday, 1 December, comes alive with the “National Day Arabic Concerts” featuring Emirati artists taking place around the city at Dubai Mall, Dubai Festival City, Mall of the Emirates, City Walk, The Beach and City Centre Mirdif from 8pm.  From 1-3 December, Arabian music will fill the malls with UAE & GCC traditional bands playing music from 4pm-10pm.  For those of you who plan to avoid last minute shopping this gift-giving month, shopping malls will have special National Day sales featuring 60%-90% off across the city.


Global Village

Global Village presents the Operetta UAE The Nation of Tolerance, the largest musical theatre production during the 45th National Day celebrations from the 1stuntil the 6th of December 2016 on the Main Cultural Stage. 40 performers from Ornina Theatrical Dance Group will enact this Operetta with a spectacularly visual show.

Emirati Concerts                                                                             

Global Village presents two concerts in one day with the popular Emirati singers Mohammad Al Minhaly and Maedad AlKaabi.

Shaabiat Al Cartoon                                                                             

Global Village presents the most famous Emirates cartoon show (Shaabiat Al Cartoon) with its popular characters like Shambiah and his group on the Main Cultural Stage.

Amazing Fireworks and the Carnival of the World                                  

The sky of Global Village will be lit with an amazing fireworks display, while the Carnival of the World takes to the streets of Global Village with cultural shows from more 75 countries pavilions from 9pm.


Amusement Parks

Dubai’s amusement parks, IMG World and Dubai Parks will be in full swing with thrills and National Day cheer. 


National Day Carnival at City Walk

And for those wanting to maximize the cheer, head to City Walk for the National Day Carnival.  From 29th November to 4th December, celebrate UAE's 45th National Day with activities for the whole family including live local performances, various kids workshop and activities, markets selling traditional accessories and local merchandise, Arabian hospitality tent and more!  On December 1st, motor heads can enjoy the view of 50 Lamborghini super cars in green, white, red and black forming the shape of the UAE Flag!  All starts from 4pm-10pm daily


National Day Fireworks

When it’s time to celebrate, Dubai brings out the fireworks. And of course, the 45-year anniversary of Spirit of The Union will be such an occasion. Join the city in a magical display that will light up the skies with a spectacular show of pattern, colour and sound.

Try to beat the crowds and get there early, because as the area will fill up fast. Also, think about parking and plan in advance so you can catch the cool weather, magical fireworks and a truly memorable event.  This will be held at The Beach JBR at 8.30pm.


DJ Tiesto

For the UAE’s 45th National Day, only the best will do…so get ready to welcome the world’s number one DJ, Tiesto! Party-revelers will dance the night away with DJ Tiesto at the helm of a pyrotechnic, audio-visual spectacular. Of course, Tiёsto needs no introduction to his fans, but just in case you don’t know who he is, this megastar music producer has been spinning out chart-toppers and anthems since the 90s and just keeps getting better.

Leading up to and post EDM maestro Tiёsto, will be Stephen Grandi and Hollaphonic tag team Greg Stainer and Olly Wood – which all means one thing – epic dancefloor marathon. So practice your dance moves and be there or be square.

Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens

The Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens is back and promises to be even bigger and better than ever. The best players in the world will converge on The Sevens stadium for the three day annual rugby extravaganza starting 1st December with awesome action and entertainment on offer, and fantastic fun activities for the whole family.

The Renaissance of the UAE Photographic Exhibition

The Renaissance of UAE, was inspired to pay tribute to United Arab Emirates by showcasing people, tradition and heritage showcasing beautiful country and its development, in the context for the celebration of the 45th National UAE Celebration. Three artists- photographer Abdulhamid AlAttar from Palestine, Hamed AlDerei from UAE and Ali Pecen from Turkey will be showing their work and passion for the UAE. This exhibition will be curated by the artist activist from Zeearts community, Zaahirah Zabeen Muthy. The Opening will be held on Monday 5th December, at The Cafe, Crown Plaza Hotel, Dubai.  It will be open to the public until 31st December.
