The British have many deep rooted traditions, and perhaps the most quintessential of them all is the ritual of afternoon tea. For years Dubai has taken this tradition to heart and today you will find an abundance of interpretations of it through all corners of Dubai. Rhodes W1, Grosvenor House Hotel

Serving up traditional afternoon tea every Friday and Saturday form 2.30pm – 5pm, Rhodes W1 have hit the nail on the head with their unlimited selection of artisan teas (as well as the option of home-made iced tea), divine pastries and finger sandwiches and warm scones, all served on the most adorable china that brings our thoughts to Alice in Wonderland! The airy surroundings, which include grass covered walls, of Rhodes W1 means that even in hot weather you feel rather outdoorsy when seated indoors. Palm Court Lobby Lounge, Jumeirah Beach Hotel

Served daily from 1pm till 7pm, afternoon tea at Palm Court Lobby Lounge at JBH is a rather posh affair that should definitely be enjoyed on a special occasion. Presented in a modern art birdcage, afternoon tea includes sandwiches, light scones with jam and preserves, mini tartlets, pastries and cakes that will blow your taste buds away. Penrose Lounge, Four Seasons DIFC

Decadence at its best is how we’d best describe afternoon tea at Penrose Lounge inside Four Seasons hotel in DIFC. Served across five tiers (yup, you heard that right – FIVE), the selection includes mini smoked salmon bagels, Boston lobster rolls, assorted macaroons, royal opera torte and many more favourites. Their scones also come in a variety of different flavours, including walnut, cheese and orange. If you are looking for a bargain of an afternoon tea in quirky, cosy surroundings, Crimson Gallery at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel is your spot! The venue, which draws the mind to a stylish gentleman’s library, serves afternoon tea daily from 3pm till 5pm for just AED 85 per person. The selection includes dainty sandwiches, delicate pastries and decadent cakes along with freshly baked scones of course. Royal China Dubai, DIFC

Royal China Dubai, the city’s award-winning Chinese restaurant located in the heart of the DIFC, is the ideal venue from which to enjoy a unique twist on traditional Afternoon Tea. Known for its exhaustive tea menu, Royal China invites Dubai diners to expand their palates with a range of health inspired tea infusions, paired with a selection of authentic Asian inspired delicacies.  The team has matched the flavours of the team library with a range of exquisite pastries created to captivate the hearts of Chinese aficionados.  

A variety of edible items available include a savoury selection of steamed wild mushroom buns, honey roast chicken puffs and steamed crab meat dumplings with egg white and black truffle. To sweeten the palate the dessert options include traditional green tea glutinous rice dumplings filled with fresh mango and freshly baked egg tarts.
Each tea infusion is made with homemade Jasmine flower tea, a traditional Chinese delicacy, sourced from the southern region of China and carefully dried to retain its full flavour.  Afternoon tea is served from 3-6pm from Sunday – Thursday, priced at 68 AED per head, inclusive of a pot of tea and pastry.
