Did you know that this past Saturday marked World Vegetarian Day in our calendars? As you may have guessed by now, the CitiSpi team absolutely LOVES foodie related topics and will gladly go out scouting the city for top recommendations to fit the occasion.
We’re fairly good at eating our greens, but it’s always great to get out and try some creative veggie cuisine to inspire us to enjoy a healthy, colourful diet. Dubai has an array of fine dining and casual dining spots that offer great selections of vegetarian options on their a la carte menus. We have listed out top five picks this week to help you discover vegetarian Dubai!
Intersect by Lexus, DIFC
When you think of luxury car brands, veggie cuisine might not be the first thing that springs to mind. But inside this automotive themed fine dining hot spot you’ll not only find quirky design and limited edition car models, but also some of Dubai’s best vegetarian dishes in our humble opinion. Not only have they got a mouth-watering selection of super creative salads but they also have a good offering of fully vegetarian starters and mains. Look out as Michelin starred chef Greg Malouf takes over the kitchen from 11-13 October with a special four course set menu available for AED 350 per person. To book, call 04 355 9524.
Gourmet by Kcal, Le Meridien Mina Seyahi
We are a huge fan of Gourmet by Kcal (after all, we enjoy breakfast there almost weekly with our Bumps & Beyond group), and love how they source most of their products from local, organic farms. On their menu, you will find delicious vegetarian creations such as the mezzeh and paleo platter as well as the homely veggie lasagne. Not only will you enjoy great green cuisine here, but the chefs also put a great deal of thought into what goes into each and every dish, ensuring that everything’s super healthy. To book, call 04 511 7139.
@Blend, The Palm Jumeirah
You may not have heard of @Blend yet, but this relatively new spot on the Palm is well worth a visit. Not only do they whip up fresh power smoothies and detoxifying juices, but they also have a great selection of salads, wraps and breakfasts that are suitable for vegetarians. We especially dig that you can “build-your-own” salad from a long list of delicious toppings. They’re all about being healthy, yummy and affordable and using all-natural ingredients. Perfect for a weekend breakfast date or a mid-week luncheon with friends. For bookings call 04 514 8966.
Baker & Spice, Various Locations
With branches dotted out around Dubai, including two in Downtown Dubai and one in Dubai Marina, Baker & Spice has long been a firm favourite amongst Dubai foodies looking for a healthy vegetarian lunch. Their salad bar is legendary, offering tasty new options every day based on what’s in season. A ‘pick-n-mix’ if you like, the salad buffet is the perfect choice for either a seated lunch or a take-away if you’re on the go. If you’d like to make a reservation at their Dubai Marina branch, call 04 362 4686.
Masala, Bab Al Shams
We all know that Indian cuisine is well famed for creative dishes suitable for vegetarians, and Masala at the luxurious desert resort Bab al Shams certainly proves exactly that. Even if you aren’t planning to stay the night, a road trip to this hidden veggie gem is well worth it if you have visitors in town who want a green fine dining meal. Head straight for the ‘tadka’ section of the menu to find yourself overwhelmed with flavourful choices. To make a reservation, call 04 809 6194.
